Beaulieu Recognized in Fortune Magazine for Wellness Program

October 08, 2010
DALTON GA, October 8, 2009 – Beaulieu of America was one of only 820 companies nationwide to be recognized by the American Heart Association in Fortune magazine.

“Beaulieu of America should be applauded,” said Dale Huffstetler, Regional Director of the American Heart Association. “They have made big strides in an area critical to our overall health, and hold the distinct honor of being the first company recognized for their efforts by the American Heart Association in our area.”

“We are truly honored to receive this award,” said Phil Bates, Vice President of Organizational Development for Beaulieu of America. “It celebrates the commitment and dedication of our team members to become healthier employees which benefits them at home and at work. When you’re healthier you’re happier. It’s a win-win for everyone involved. Our Beaulieu team continues to strive to make Dalton a healthier place to live”.

Beaulieu’s “Ralph Boe Million Mile Challenge” begun last year to challenge its 6000 associates to collectively log a million miles of walking or jogging in a year’s time was only part of the fitness regimen instituted at the company. Other areas Beaulieu addressed were healthier choices in company vending machines, easy access to water, “Be Your Best” weight control programs, “smoke outs” to help associates quit smoking, designated areas for walking at its facilities, employee newsletters promoting good health and others.

“The accomplishments of our employees are historic,” said Ralph Boe, President and CEO of Beaulieu of America. “They make healthy choices daily which affects their overall well-being. For our company to be the first in North Georgia to be recognized by the American Heart Association is significant. I am very proud of our employees and challenge everyone to get active, make healthy choices and be good examples for everyone in your community”.
